Bullying is continuing to be a critical issue in communities. Children and teens are facing bullying issue at school, online and in communities. This workshop will examine the dynamics of bullying for children and teens and provide specific techniques play therapists can use to help children and teen scope with bullying.
The workshop will explore the types of Bullying, why people bullying and what can be done to cope with bullying. Techniques from Books/Handouts, Puppets and toys and Computer mediated therapy will be explored.
Workshop Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify 3 types of bullying experienced by children and teens.
- Participants will be able to identify and utilize 3 play therapy interventions to address bullying in children and teens.
- Participants will learn and understand three computer resources available to help empower children and teens against bullying.
Presenter:
Leslie Baker, M.A., MFT, NCC has over 20 year experience in the field of psychotherapy. Leslie is currently a Lead Area Chair at the University of Phoenix in the Department of Social Sciences facilitating both undergraduate and graduate programs. She is a private practitioner in Pleasanton Ca providing psychotherapy to families, individuals, couples, teens and children. Leslie is also the author of “Healing Feelings” book, a story for children coping with grownup’s mental illness

This workshop meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFT’s & LCSW’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #PCE 1007) and for 1.5 hours of continuing education as required by the Association for Play Therapy (APT). The California Association for Play Therapy (CALAPT) is approved by APT to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (provider # 00-094). CALAPT maintains responsibility for the program.
